Celebrating 15 Years of Success: The Journey of PMT Security’s Queensland Office

As PMT Security’s Queensland office celebrates its 15th anniversary, we reflect on its remarkable journey, significant milestones, and enduring impact on the security industry in the region. From humble beginnings on the Gold Coast to becoming a pivotal player in the sector, the Queensland office’s growth story is one of dedication, innovation, and community commitment.

The Early Years and Key Milestones

PMT Security’s Queensland office began its journey on the Gold Coast, operating there for two years before relocating to a serviced office in Eight Mile Plains with a team of three. By 2018, the team had expanded significantly, necessitating a move to larger premises in Murarrie. Continuous growth led to another relocation within Murarrie in December 2023.

Over the past 15 years, the Queensland office has achieved several significant milestones. One of the most notable accomplishments is the development of the award-winning suicide prevention system, Project Safeguard, for QIC. This innovative system highlights the office’s commitment to leveraging technology for social good. Other notable projects include collaborations with Queensland Rail on the Cross River Rail project, QIC Shopping Centres, Mater Springfield Hospital, and Metcash Crestmead.

Growth and Development

Starting with just one employee, the Queensland office has grown to a robust team of over 40 staff members. This impressive growth can be attributed to strategic initiatives such as gaining accreditation for the Queensland Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) and obtaining ISO9001 accreditation. Significant projects, including Project Safeguard and various QIC Shopping Centres, have also fuelled the office’s expansion.

Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Technology

In its early years, the Queensland office faced the challenge of attracting experienced staff. PMT Security’s reputation as a family-owned company with strong values played a pivotal role in overcoming this hurdle.

Recent challenges, such as navigating the EBA and managing organic growth, are being addressed through continuous improvement and adaptation. Having an EBA gives us access to both government and non-government commercial projects, which historically are larger and more complex. With only a small number of EBA-approved integrators, it opens up opportunities that we did not have prior to securing the EBA. This accreditation not only enhances our project portfolio but also attracts experienced, high-quality technicians who seek to work for a progressive company involved in significant projects. These larger projects offer better pay conditions, further motivating our team and ensuring we deliver the highest standards of service to our clients.

The security industry in Queensland has undergone significant transformation over the past 15 years, shifting from analog to digital environments. PMT Security’s Queensland office has been at the forefront of this evolution, helping customers navigate changes related to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The emergence of cloud-based Surveillance as a Service is particularly exciting, offering new opportunities for innovation and enhanced service delivery.

Community Engagement and Future Outlook

The office’s community involvement has become increasingly important to the team, leading to participation in meaningful initiatives such as the Push Up Challenge for Lifeline.

In June 2023, five staff members completed 3,249 push-ups, raising over $1,000 for Lifeline. This initiative underscored the office’s commitment to mental health awareness and support.

PMT Security’s Queensland office aims to continue expanding, training, and developing its staff to keep pace with the ever-changing security environment. The focus will remain on growth, innovation, and maintaining high standards of service.

Company Culture and Customer Relationships

The office has fostered a positive company culture through monthly toolbox talks, BBQ breakfasts, and regular social gatherings. These initiatives provide staff with opportunities to connect, share ideas, and contribute to the business’s direction. PMT Security has built and maintained strong customer relationships by ensuring consistent and high-quality service across all departments. The success of Project Safeguard is a testament to this commitment.

Reflecting on the Journey

Reflecting on the past 15 years, the Queensland office takes pride in its organic growth and the strong relationships it has built with recurring customers. The journey has been marked by significant achievements, overcoming challenges, and a steadfast commitment to innovation and community impact. As PMT Security’s Queensland office looks to the future, it remains dedicated to upholding the values that have driven its success, while continually striving to adapt and grow in an evolving industry.
